Spring Has Sprang!
Madré's Kitchen is open for business. It is time to shake off those winter chills and welcome the warm summer sun. There is lots happening on the Sir Robert Stanford Estate everything is budding and blossoming, the coots gave birth to three fluffy black chicks. One happy customer sent us some pics of our sweet little friends.
As the days become warmer we get more excited about being outdoors and being outdoors means picnics! Join us for a lazy picnic relaxing on big comfy cushions while sipping a glass of Sir Robert Stanford. The picnics are a selection of cheeses, meats, patés and breads a wonderful indulgence of country goodness.

We are Taking a Little Time Out
Once in a while we like to take a break to get creative and recharge our batteries! We are busy replanting the veggie garden and pruning the roses, adding some compost in preparation for spring.
The Citroen has been dusted and polished for some Overberg country exploring. With a case of Sir Robert Stanford Shiraz safely in on the back seat we are off... see you in the spring!

A Birthday Walk Some Wine and a Feast
Blessed with a perfect day we had our best wine walk to date! Armed with a group of enthusiastic go getters and one very happy birthday girl we headed onto the farm for a two hour wine walk. From the constant chatter to the interesting questions and answers we wandered, with purpose up into the fynbos hills.
Not to give away any of the wine walk surprises but there were some beautiful and unsual sites along the way! After a good walk we were ready for the wine and food pairing.
Returning back to Madre's Kitchen a feast of cheeses, meats, patés and freshly baked bread just to mention a few was waiting for the hungry walkers. They continued to sip on the Sir Robert Stanford Chenin Blanc and the rest of the day was filled with celebration and laughter.

July school holidays
We are open! The wintery days will not get in the way of a warm and comforting meal.
The 2009 Sir Robert Stanford Shiraz is now available in the wine shop on the farm. Join Alta for a wine tasting while keeping warm in front of a our wood burning fire. The 2010 Sir Robert Stanford Sauvignon Blanc will be available from the 9th July.
The winter menu teasers are a delicious curried apple soup with coconut shavings, slow cooked oxtail with creamy polenta and a traditional bobotie, just to get your taste buts going. To you can enjoy a selection of sweet temptations while sipping on our Grappa coupled with an espresso.
If a little bit of time out and fresh farm air is all you need a comforting cappuccino awaits you.

The Winter Sun
We were blessed with beautiful weather and the most glorious winter sun. The chill is around the corner and we are planning some very warm and comforting meals. Our Sir Robert Stanford reds are there for the sipping! Thank you to all those who joined us this weekend the constant flow of new and old faces was a joy.
